Freshly Cut Grass, Country Roads, And Turbulence

Hallo meine Lieblingsleute!   Another week in the Motherland! Sometimes I forget I'm in Germany to be honest. Then I see 55 yr old men dressing like they are still 18 (don't get any ideas dad), I taste how good pretzels are here, I see 3 different catholic churches within 2 blocks, or I order water and its bubbly, and then I remember oh yeah, I'm in Germany!   It is a good time out here though. The work in Aachen is starting to gain some speed. We found two new people last week on facebook who are interested in learning more, which is really exciting.   Last week as a district we went to Euskirchen to do a service project. There is a lady there who has been trying to fix up her house, garden, and land for a year now since the flood last year. It was a lot of fun! We stacked some wood, moved some rocks, and she fed us dinner which was so awesome. Germans like to give help, but hate receiving it, so when they do receive it they show their gratitude 100000 fold. It was pouri...

A Real Dog, PTSD, And Border Crossing

Hallo Lieblingsleute!   I gotta be honest, at this point I am out of intros so we will just get right into it. This week we were able to meet with quite a few members. On Friday we met with a member who had been dealing with some medical issues, but is looking to come to church again. She has a pretty small apartment, but does not have the corresponding size of a dog. She has a 100 pound German Shepherd-Doberman mix named Ace and he is still only about 2 years old, but really does not understand how much he weighs. It was however a nice change from seeing all these tiny rat dogs (no offense to you chihuahua and mini poodle owners)  . He was jumping around like crazy and licking me, but Elder Reid was sorta worried he was gonna get eaten. It was a lot of fun because he reminded me of Maya! I'm telling yall... I'm the dog whisperer (plus now I can shout commands in German, which really seems to work). Oh yeah and the lesson was really great. Despite Ace going insane, we could re...

I'm Basically Half Nigerian, Story Teller, And Crazies

Hallo Alle! What a week!    This past week we met with most of our friends. And for the most part it has been going pretty well! We met with our friend Treasure and Paul (who is a member) on Saturday and we had some tasty Nigerian food (I still remember the Nigerian member "Prince" in Saarbrücken who said that I eat like a real African man... I still take that as the highest compliment anyone ever could have given me). We talked to Treasure a lot about the Gospel of Jesus Christ (which includes baptism). We essentially invited him to be baptized without directly saying the words, and he is pretty conflicted, but said he will pray about it, which is the most important thing he could do!   This week we also met with our friend Farhad. It was online through zoom, but we had a member, Amir (who speaks Persian), there with us, so the two were able to talk for a while and we didn't even have to do much! We were doing it in a bookstore, and everyone was looking at us, probably t...

Beethoven, On The Streets, And The Nightmare Before P-day

Hallo alle!   What an interesting week, to say the least. Just tread to the end. This email is an interesting one...   Well our District got moved around and we became part of the Bonn district. We had our district council on Friday and so we had to travel a total of about 2 hours to get there, but it was worth it! Bonn is a pretty city, and it was Beethoven's HQ back in the olden days, so that's cool too. After our meeting we got some lunch, and people were just playing music in the streets and it was awesome weather. We stopped this one guy and talked to him before getting on our train, and we got talking and he is totally into NFL and American football. He even played for a team here in Germany. Him and Elder Reid got along real well because Elder Reid was a big football guy back home. So we got his number and we are going to stay in contact!   We are getting ready to invite our friend Treasure to be baptized! He is such a cool guy, and honestly so ready for the Gospel...
