Regretten, Prayer, And God's FBI

Image
Hallo alle!   This week was great! On Friday we headed down to Frankfurt and met with Elder Uchtdorf! It was so cool to see all my friends again, but it was especially awesome to be able to see another apostle of the Lord. He did the whole conference in German and it was cool to see that I could actually understand everything. The thing that he said that really stood out the most to me is that the only thing we ever have to regret, especially on our mission, is not trying our best (also that's what I titled my email. Elder Uchtdorf speaks so much English that he forgot the word for regret in German and just said "regretten", it was pretty darn funny). He also talked about showing love to people and how important that is to God's plan. I felt the Spirit and God's love so strong when he was speaking, and overall it was really just an amazing experience.   On Saturday we came back to Aachen and we had a lesson on Zoom with a guy that the Elders in Trier had found, bu...

Enlightenment, Ostern, And Treasure

Hallo alle!   First an announcement! For those who don't already know the Washington DC temple is reopening and they are having an open house. Please invite all your friends and family! I wish I could be there for it, but it is really such a cool opportunity, especially if you aren't a member of the church!   Anyways, this week we had some really awesome lessons. We met with our friend Treasure on Thursday at a members house, and it went really well! We talked about faith and how one can turn hope into faith. His famous line was "wow this is enlightening".   We met with a member and her son, and while Elder Unsworth was helping her with something on her phone, I played soccer and ping pong with her son. I totally was dominating in ping pong, but I let him win. I didn't want to crush an 11 yr old's dreams. The funniest part was, his mom told him to put on a jacket cause it was cold outside and he came out wearing one of those sleeveless vest jackets with a sini...

De Doop, Mississippi, And Coincidence?

Image
Hallo alle!   This past Saturday Rosa was baptized! Her family, who are all members, came over from the Netherlands and her dad baptized her (the rest of her family is members) Also fun fact, baptism in Dutch is Doop! It was really awesome, and it was cool to see her take that next step. She said for her that it wasn't some crazy spiritual experience, but after she was baptized, she felt at peace and just happy which was cool to hear. I also had to give another talk, so that was an adventure. I think people were a bit bored though because half of it was just scriptures. Whoops!   On Monday, our appointments were canceled, so we went around visiting members we have never seen or met and street contacting. Even after 6 hours of that and talking to lots of people, only 3 people stopped to talk, but at least we had a good conversation with one person, and we were able to set up a visit and set up a time to meet with two different members who haven't come to church in years! So tha...

April (Snow) Showers, A Miracle Bus, And General Conference!

Image
Hallo alle! I cannot believe that it is already Thursday. That's pretty crazy. And plus this transfer is shorter so we only have 2 1/2 weeks till the end of this transfer!   This week we had snow! Aachen actually got a good amount (even though it was gone the next day). It's sorta unfortunate cause everything started to bloom since it was supposed to be "Spring", but lo and behold the weather said "nein" and decided to snow. It's almost as crazy and unpredictable as Virginia weather!   We also had General Conference this week! We had a young adult activity Saturday evening go watch the morning session (it's a little weird here because we are 8 hours ahead of mountain daylight time, so it is more like the night session for us). It was a lot of fun, and I learned a lot from Elder Bednar's talk about "heeding" those not who seek to criticize, belittle, or judge us based on our beliefs or our religion or who we are (strengths and weaknesses...
