O My Father

Hallo leute! What an incredible week. Saturday evening, Elder Carruthers and I were street contacting in the busiest part of Frankfurt (Zeil), the large outdoor mall downtown. I had the feeling that I should stop and talk to these two women, but almost immediately something told me I shouldn't. Despite that feeling, I stopped them anyway. One of them said to me "sorry I don't speak German". We started talking and it turns out she is from the US, and not only from the US but from Virginia, and not only from Virginia, but of all places, from Charlottesville. I could hardly believe it. I also happen to know her daughter (know of her, rather) because she also went to Albemarle High School. We exchanged numbers and I hope to stay in contact! That was such a cool experience. It showed me how personally God knows me. Just a couple days ago I had been thinking about how cool it would be to meet someone from Charlottesville in the middle of Frankfurt, and God made that happen....

Count Your Blessings

Hallo liebe Leute! This week was busy, but lots of fun! And it was Easter! I had possibly the most spiritual sacrament meeting of my life. A member of the ward sang "This is the Christ", and as she sang the whole room was filled with the Spirit, and I was just shaking. It was so powerful! I am so grateful for music and how it can invite the Spirit. This week I somehow got to a talk from President Eyring called "O Remember, Remember". He talked about how important it is to remember what the Lord has done for you every day. I then plugged in my headphones to listen to a talk, and my phone automatically turned on the song Count Your Many Blessings. Seems like God was really trying to tell me something! So I studied the hymn and some scriptures about gratitude. That evening we had a lesson with our friend Sebastia who is getting baptized. At the end we asked him how he sees God in his life, and he said that he knows that God is there but he doesn't feel like he sees...

Our Savior's Love

Hallo Leute! A crazy week! This morning I took Elder Urban to the airport and sent him home! It was the weirdest feeling, considering I have spent a total of 4.5 months living with him on my mission (between our time together in Darmstadt, and this past transfer in Frankfurt). We had grown so close and I am going to miss him a lot! My new companion is Elder Carruthers, who I already knew from my time in Darmstadt, and we are getting along great. He is from some odd country where they speak a weird dialect of English. He says "rubbish" instead of trash, and "hoover" instead of vacuum, and the most confusing one is "crisps" instead of chips. Oh yeah, and a couple hundred years ago we beat his country in a war, no big deal. This week was also general conference! Because of the big time difference, I still haven't gotten a chance to watch the Saturday Evening or the Sunday Afternoon sessions, so no spoilers! It was a spiritual conference and I loved it. Pl...
