Letter From Mom

My Dearest Elder Allan, As you read this letter you will be flying home from you mission in Germany. I cannot imagine the depth of emotion you must be feeling as this chapter in your life comes to an end. For the past two years I have known it would be challenging for you to say goodbye to Germany when the time came and now it is here. This experience has shaped you into the strong, faithful and bold leader that God needs you to be. I know that HE is smiling on you, so proud of what you have become while in His service. You are a warrior of God’s army determined to do your part for Him. As you sit on the plane, looking out the window and as Germany fades off into the distance, do so with a sure knowledge that your mission is not over. This flight home will be the beginning of a lifetime of dedicated service. It may look different than a name tag and a white shirt. It may feel different than trying to talk to people while on the bus or train. It may feel awkward not speaking German all ...

Letter From Dad

Elder Allan, You will be on your way home when you read this. 2 years has passed so quickly. At least for me, perhaps for you as well. I have been so impressed with how you have served so diligently throughout your time as a full time missionary. I once asked a friend when in his life did, he feel closet to the savior and without hesitation he said “My Mission”. I think as we put the needs of others in front of our own personal needs and desires it draws us closer to him. Example, as we serve others. My friend also talked about how the daily activities of a missionary from the moment they arise to start the day to the moment their head hits the pillow their focus is on the work. This helps with the removal of worldly distractions which draw your attention away from spiritual things. It’s hard for someone like me to understand what that is like, but it is something I crave to experience at some point in my life. This is why I’m a little jealous of your experiences as a missionary. I kno...

Called To Serve

Image
Hallo alle! My last week. Markus had his baptismal interview this week and he is ready to get baptized! Unfortunately his kids wouldn't be able to come if we had it on this upcoming Saturday like we planned, so we decided to push it back a week. That means I won't be able to be there, but it's alright because I know that he is in good hands! (and I can just give my talk on Zoom while I'm in the US haha) Today, while in the mall, I ran into Julian, someone I taught in Essen. What are the chances? God has a plan! This has truly been the most incredible 2 years of my entire life. I have learned more, grown more, and enjoyed life more in the past two years than at any other point in time in my life. My mission has been the biggest and most spiritually defining event of my life. I went on my mission without really knowing that there is a life after death, and I am leaving knowing that God is real, Jesus Christ is real, and I will live after death with my family for eternity....

Fear Not!

Hallo Leute! This week was really awesome. I cannot believe that in just 2 weeks I will be back in the US. I am loving my time on the mission! Our friend Markus is doing so well! He has not smoked for an entire week! He is doing so well and is on track to be baptized on the 13th. He bears such strong testimony every single time we meet with him. He told us that every time he has the urge to smoke, he pulls up the Book of Mormon on his phone, reads a couple verses, and the urge goes away! He is such an incredible example to me. Please pray for him! We also headed up to Dortmund this past week for the Zone Conference up there. It was really nice to see the city, the apartment, and the church building again. It brought me back to the glory days of my time in Dortmund. It made me think about how grateful I am for the experiences I have had on my mission. We also had our Frankfurt Zone Conference, and one of the presentations really impressed me. The STLs gave a presentation about choosing ...
