Disco, Rain Or Shine, And Gulasch

Grüß euch!   This week I actually have interesting pictures! Wow, a miracle!   This week there was a huge young adult activity in Darmstadt for members from Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. We helped out a bit with the set up, and they really go all out over here. It was a multi day event (Thursday till Sunday), with about 280 people. On Sunday they were also all at church, and it was crazy to have around 450 people at church! We got to see some past missionaries and friends from other areas which was also a lot of fun. I especially enjoyed the back to the future poster and disco ball still hanging up in the cultural hall during sacrament meeting.   Since we have been getting ready for our hike Zone Conference that was on Tuesday, we were all worried about rain. Up until Monday night it was raining and there was still a 95% chance of rain all day on Tuesday and during our hike. We all probably prayed pretty hard Monday night because During our entire hike and 2 hour dev...

Louisiana Chicken, Soy Una Manzana, And How To Start A Company

Hallo meine liebe Leute!!! Great week number #293434394   We have been meeting with Etienne recently in the evening to read in the Book of Mormon together. He has been baptized for a couple years, and is half German half american, loves america, plays american football here in Germany, and has a total Louisiana country accent when speaking English, but a totally German accent when speaking German. It is trippy to hear. Anyways it is always fun calling with him to read in the scriptures. He normally starts off with 20 minutes about how he likes to barbecue his chicken, and then we are able to read in the scriptures, but it is always an incredible time, and he always points out the most beautiful plain truths of the Book of Mormon and has the most incredible insights.   On Friday we helped people from the Spanish group set up for a wedding (and I was asked to play some piano at the wedding). I am not sure how we always get roped into setting up for all these weddings and huge e...

Expect Miracles

Hallo alle!   It was a great week, I promise, but I am so tired so sorry for the half-thought through email!   We had a conference on Tuesday with some other missionaries, and it was a really spiritual time. It was also great to see some friends from earlier in my mission.   We also had dinner at the Sauer family's which is always a great time. They are so much fun and they are almost as sarcastic as my family, so I really feel at home there haha. We all went around and shared scriptures that help us and bring us hope. It was really cool and I felt the spirit so strong. I shared Mark 9:23-24 (but the whole chapter is good) I would explain it, but I think it would be better if you all just read yourselves. Please let me know your thoughts :)   We have really been trying to find more people to teach, and its been hard. We have talked to a lot of people and exchanged numbers, but its been hard to find anyone who is actually down to meet and learn more. In spite of that,...

God's Army, Elder Suburban, And The Spirit

Hallo alle! A great week! Last week we went to the park again and sang christian songs with people. It was so awesome. Multiple people came up and wanted to talk to us about what we were doing and why, and we got to know some new people you were interested in learning some more!   On Sunday, Sam received the Holy Ghost! It was an awesome experience. Sadly he just moved to Saarbrücken, but I love Saarbrücken since I started my mission there, so I wasn't too mad haha.     On Sunday I was fasting that we would be able to find some new people who would be interested in the Gospel, and that we would know how to help people around us. There was a baptism on Sunday in the Spanish Group that we helped out with, and Michael, who was getting baptized, invited 5 of his US Army friends, and they all wanted to meet up with us sometime and talk some more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That was truly a miracle. They've already been in America's Army, now they can join God's :) ...

The Two In The White Shirts, Child Of God, And I'm 1/4 Mexican!

Hallo liebe Leute! It was a great week! (When is it ever not one, am i right?)   One evening we decided to just talk to people on the street since we had some extra time in the day, so we went to Luisenplatz (the main city square) and there was a guy ripping some Christian rock on his guitar. He was hooked up to speakers and everything so it was really loud. Then he started preaching (first in English, then in German) about how he came to believe in God. So as we walked away we gave him a thumbs up and he just stops and in his microphone shouts "Ay you two in the white shirts!" all the heads in the main square just slowly turned to us "I want to talk to you guys, so make a loop and come back when I'm done". So we came back when we were done, and we expected a nice conversation about how great Jesus is, but when we asked him why he wanted to talk to us he said "To convince you that Joseph Smith was a false prophet and that you believe in the wrong Jesus...
