Frankfurt Germany Mission #5

Hallo allerseits!

I finally got my flight plans, and I am out of here on Monday! I'm flying into Dallas, will meet up with some others from my MTC district going to Frankfurt, and then fly a 10 hour straight flight to Germany. It's sorta crazy that my MTC is already over, and in just a couple days I will be in Germany.

I had an awesome experience in the MTC, and had some of the best teachers (thanks Brother Adams, Sister Clark, Brother Schild, and Sister Colver for turning me into a German-speaking spiritual wizard). My district was so awesome and we had such an awesome time over the past 6 weeks. I definitely was so lucky to be put with so many awesome people and teachers, and I definitely would not be at the level I am now at spiritually, or with German, without them. Sure, sometimes they say I look like Vincent Crabbe from Harry Potter, but I am all about forgiveness, so we are all still best of friends...

This past week I have learned a lot about the importance of making Jesus Christ the main focus in our lives. One day I applied the advice of Elder Manwaring (sometimes taking his advice is dangerous, so I risked a lot), and randomly flipped to somewhere in my scriptures. After doing so, I found what I would say is one of my new all-time favorite scriptures. In 3 Nephi 13:21 it says
"For where your treasure be, your heart be also"

This really struck me hard, because it helped me realize how sometimes what we say we value, and what we actually value are two different things. For me personally, I seek to make Jesus Christ and His Atonement MY treasure, and give Him my whole heart not only as I serve Him for two years, but for the rest of my life. I invite you all to ask yourself, as I often have to do (especially when I think about how much I want a Corvette), if your heart aligns with what you say you treasure in life. Oftentimes what we say value in life, and what we actually want are two different things, but I know that when we are able to recognize that, we can find clarity in our purpose.

I am going on a mission because I want to serve Jesus Christ. I think that as I have studied how to bring others unto Christ, I have realized ways in which I can come closer to Him myself. The MTC has helped me understand the importance of making Christ the focus of everything I do (not only on my mission, but in my life). As I have begun to better understand this, I have sought to find ways in which I can apply the Atonement in my everyday life, and in just 6 short weeks I have become so much happier. As I look at the beauty of God's creations, I remember how powerful God and my savior Jesus Christ is. Despite being divine, Jesus Christ still chose to endure inexplicable pain not only so that we could be forgiven of our sins and be resurrected one day, but so that He would understand every single moment of pain, sadness, or sorrow we have, and can comfort us because of it. I know without a doubt that he is my Savior, and has truly saved me from pain, sadness, and sorrow when I have felt my worse. Remember this in Matthew 9:

20 ¶ And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment

21 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.

22 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

Sometimes all it takes is one leap of faith, reaching for Christ, even if you can only touch the edge of his garment, and He will make us whole. He has made me whole.
Love you all, be back in 2 (years)
