Frankfurt Germany Mission #8
Was geht ab meine Lieblingsleute?
If you are reading this email first, don't. Go back to the #7 one I sent today. (Or you can read it out order, whatever makes you happy)
This past week has been awesome. We had so many cool experiences and it was really fun.
On Friday we met with one of our members, Benedikt, who is French but also speaks German and English. He is so nice and even draws something for each new missionary (so did something for me too). We met at the Deutsch-Französiche Gartens which was really pretty, but I totally forgot to take any pictures so just go ahead and look it up haha.
This week has also been the attack of the fruit flies. In Germany you separate your bio trash (food) from the rest, so it ends up attracting so many flies. Elder De Young (my comp) is like a fruit fly serial killer, and sometimes he will just spend like 20 minutes killing them in the kitchen. I think its time to tent and fumigate the apartment.
Cool enough, missions were not allowed to have websites, but some amount of months ago, our mission made one. The Church office wasn't too happy, but they let the mission do a test run with it. Because it has been so successful, 40 missions around the world are now allowed to have websites. Check it out its pretty cool its called Findechristus.org (see if you can find my picture). Anyways its been so cool to see how it works, our area alone has gotten 4 orders for free Books of Mormon in the past of week, and the mission as a whole gets about 50 every week. Its crazy how many doors technology opens up for spreading the Gospel.
The other day we had to take the train to get to another city in Saarland to drop of a Book of Mormon. Once we dropped off the Book of Mormon (to a guy whos wife apparently dresses up as a witch to scare off Jehovas Wittnesses and missionaries sometimes) we decided to visit some inactive members. One guy has been a member since 16, but apparently he had a falling out with some other members and stopped going to church. He made it clear that he wasnt interested in coming back, but he was really nice and hospitable.Once we left, it was getting late, so we had the choice to go home, but I had a strong feeling we should visit the other inactive member in the area. It took a while to get there, and when we did, we found out he doesnt even live there anymore. Because of that we took the next soonest train home, and we had to rush to get it. On the train we met two people who were interested in the Gospel and wanted to meet with us. If we didnt decide to deliver the Book of Mormon, visit the inactive member, or try to visit the other member, we would not have been on that train and we would not have met two people ready to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have a testimony that if we just give what we have, and push forward with faith, and listen to spiritual promptings, our efforts will be consecrated.
Today we went to the Saar Polygon which is a cool memorial thing. Also Elder De Young makes me run all the time on pdays and in the mornings sometimes cause he did cross country in high school and I hate it. Even when he is walking he is essentially almost running. Ive never had to try to keep up with someone walking cause most of my family is short. mean I have been shaving off some pounds which is good, but im trying to decide if it is really worth the pain my body is in. I think when I told him that I liked to run, I really meant to say I like to go for a light evening jog when its nice out.
Anyways I could write so much more, but obviously I have to go teach some peeps about how incredible the Gospel of Jesus Christ is, so peace out.
Love you all,
Elder Landon Allan
