Christmas, Insane Kids, And Thanksgiving
Hallo Leute!
Another awesome week! I am really loving being here in Duisburg. The COVID numbers are spiking in Germany so there are some stricter rules being put in place, and some places are canceling Christmas events/markets. I hope everything will be back to normal soon enough.
Duisburg is still doing it's Christmas market, and it's so fun. There's so much good food and cool decorations. I'm having a lot of fun, but with a lot of other Christmas markets being canceled, it made me think about how important the true meaning of Christmas is. It sounds clichè but it's true. Really the only reason Christmas is celebrated is to celebrate Christs birth and family! (But either way the Christmas markets are absolutely awesome)
This week we had an awesome lesson with one of our friends named Hossein and he was talking about how he was worried about joining a religion because he was afraid that he would only do good things to look spiritual in front of others and not just for God. We shared Lehi's dream with him and he absolutely loved it. He was saying how much he loved the analogy of the iron rod leading to eternal life, and he related to it so much. It was really cool to see how we were prompted to share that with him.
We went to dinner at a member's house and taught a lesson about the restoration of the church using Jenga and the kids loved it. They were going crazy, and one of them also said my head looks like Frankenstein, so that was fun.
Kids are crazy. We were at one of our members' soccer games yesterday and a member's kids kept coming up to us and trying to steal our name tags. They would grab them and put them on and run away. In fact one of them kept hissing at me every time I would get near her to try to get my name tag back.
Today we had Thanksgiving. Some other missionaries from other areas came and we made a ton of food. Originally we thought there wasn't going to be enough food and then everybody showed up with a ton. It was a lot of fun. It made me think about how thankful I am for all the people I have met so far on my mission. The other missionaries, members, and just everyone we have met or taught.
I hope everyone has an awesome Thanksgiving, and don't forget to go around the table and say what you're thankful for!
Tschüss!
