Attempted Murder, Octobahn, And Prayer!

Hallo Alle!

This week was another awesome week!

Christmas in Germany has just been getting better and better. Our members have been giving us so many sweets and food, I am starting to actually worry about my health. I feel as if they are literally trying to kill me with kindness (and sugar). One of my new favorite things here now are Stollenkonfekts, which are essentially mini cinnamon rolls (without cinnamon) with powdered sugar on top and marzipan and raisins in the middle. I think I'm addicted...

This week we went on splits and I went to Wuppertal with Elder Day, which was a lot of fun. Wuppertal is a really nice city, and we had dinner with two awesome returned missionaries from the Alpine Mission, one who is from Spain and another who is in Dortmund studying. They were so awesome, and experiences like those that make me so grateful that I am able to meet so many new and cool people on the mission. In Wuppertal they also have something called the Schwebebahn which is essentially a hanging monorail. It's pretty much one of a kind (used for public transportation), and it was truly a once in a lifetime experience (not really, but it was cool anyways... picture attached for reference). It reminded me of a rollercoaster (fun fact rollercoaster in German is Octobahn)

Yesterday we traveled to the foreigner/immigration office place, because every time you get to a new city you have to register there. I had to go in person to make an appointment, so I did, and I got the earliest appointment!! for March 22 next year..... So that was fun. I may not even be here anymore by that time, but I guess we will see.

Also side note covid is getting quite a bit worse here. Quite a few people in our ward have gotten it, and now when we go into a lot of stores we have to show our vaccination and our ID.

Darn COVID's just got to ruin everything! Ach du schande.....

One of the people we are teaching is Hossein, who used to be Muslim, but then became Atheist. After a while he started to believe in God again, and as we have worked with him he has really started praying again and sharing his feelings with God. He also loves the scriptures so much because he loves the story aspect of it, the parables, and especially Lehi's vision of the tree of life in the Book of Mormon. He is making a lot of progress and it is always nice to talk to him.

Spiritual thought of the week: Sometimes we have weaknesses that are really hard to overcome, and sometimes it feels like we will never be able to get better. When we rely on Christ, and turn to God in prayer, our weaknesses may not necessarily become things that we are really good at, but the Lord will magnify our actions to help us accomplish righteous goals, as long as we try our best.

Well I will talk to you guys next week!

Tschüss meine Kumpels

3. Us and one of the best members ever, Diyar (we were celebrating his birthday)

4. We decorated the Christmas tree in the church building (oh and my new suit)

5. Us and all our deadly Christmas treats.

6. If you look close you can see me in the water next to the schwebebahn

7. The infamous schwebebahn rollercoaster
