Tornadoes, Couch Potatoes, And Zootopia
Hallo alle!
Was für eine Woche! This week was really awesome.
Was für eine Woche! This week was really awesome.
Last Friday we took the long trek to the Werner's for dinner (all the way across the street). There was this big storm in Germany up north, but we got a bit of it so it was really windy that night. We were eating dinner at the Werner's and their windows were literally flexing when you went into the hallway it sounded like a horror movie the wind was so loud. We almost got blown away a couple times, but don't worry, we survived.
Saturday was also really fun. We delivered a Book of Mormon to someone in the middle of nowhere who likes to sit down and talk with Jehovah Witnesses, but wanted to branch out a bit and talk with us. That night we also had a game night with some of the young adults in our ward and two of the Sisters' friends of the church. It was crazy fun! We played werewolf and it got really heated. They can all speak English because they served missions and learned then, so we mostly spoke english but as soon as they started getting competitive with each other they switched shouting in German. It was a lot of fun and I wish I took a picture of all of us!
On Monday we one of the young adults in our ward texted us and asked if we could help him pick up a couch he bought from someone and move it to his new apartment. We spent about three hours in total driving around and helping him move the couch and everything and it was a lot of fun. We were in a moving truck (not a big one, just like a van size), and we asked if he is scared of driving big vehicles, and he said no he just likes driving them fast on the autobahn. So a minute later we were on the autobahn zooming back and forth. A day later we helped another member move another couch upstairs. We have become professional couch movers.
On Tuesday we went to get Elder Breinholt registered in the city, and the Duisburg government offices are like the sloth at the DMV in Zootopia, so it took about 3 hours for him to do a 20 minute appointment.

Unfortunately we weren't able to meet with any of our friends this week. They were either busy, gone, or didn't answer our texts, but we hopefully this next week we will be able to!
We also had Zone Conference this week and it was really awesome! President Hammon talked about how we are often more like Laman and Lemuel than Nephi, which is something I hadn't thought too much about before. We also talked about testimonies, and how having questions does not mean you don't have a testimony. We talked a lot about actually DOING and APPLYING the things we talk about. It gave me a lot of motivation to be better and more proactive.
Yesterday we had interviews, and I talked with President Hammon about how the best way to support someone who is going through a hard time is to listen and just have a normal conversation with them. Ask what makes them happy instead of trying to shove your own advice and suggestions down their throat. That is something I had to learn because I always feel the need to help other people solve their problems as fast as possible. If you just listen to the person, and put it into God's hands, everything will work out.
Anyways thats all for this week! Shoot me an email if you want to hear all the secrets of what REALLY happened this week....
