Ukrainians, Plätzchen? And The Phone Call

Hallöchen!

This week went by really fast (have I said that before?).

Well on Friday morning we got a call that we would be getting a new missionary that same day! Because of the situation with Russia and Ukraine, all the missionaries in Ukraine have been evacuated out and sent to new assignments. So we got a total of 12 new missionaries in our mission, and I honestly feel bad for them because some of them had a COVID reassignment in the US before Ukraine as well. After trying to learn a language like Ukrainian or Russian and just starting to sorta get comfortable, they now have to learn another new language. Elder Hayward is with us and he's awesome, but I honestly feel bad that he has to learn another language and culture on the fly with only 10 months left on the mission. But hey, it's possible!

We also suddenly started getting invited over by tons of members this week. We usually have 2 or so a week, but this week we have been over to visit a member almost everyday which has been awesome! I love being able to get to know the members more and learn more about them. It's crazy how much you think you know someone and then when you actually take the time to sit down and talk, you find out so many new crazy stories and facts about them. I told Piet that I wanted to cook with him sometime so on Saturday we went over and cooked Rouladen with him. The meat ended up being a bit tough because we had to cook it fast, but otherwise it tasted so good, and may now be my new favorite German food. My goal is that when I get home and go back to BYU, I want to convince my roommates that I'm German by speaking German and broken Danglish (Deutsch-English), and cooking nothing but German food.

We also decided to be bakers again this week and make cookies for half the ward. We delivered a bunch of cookies to some members and young adults. We actually stopped by one member's house and they invited us in and we spent an hour talking about the gospel and stuff and it was really cool. Cookies work! Also for the two Germans who may be reading this... are Chocolate Chip Cookies, Kekse or Plätzchen?

The other day we also got a call from a random number, and so I answered it and it was a lady who had found a Find Christus card on a train, and she wants to learn more! There have been many times where I have been prompted to leave a card behind on a seat in a train or bus, and I never knew why, but now I know it paid off. It may not be a card that I left behind, but it doesn't matter because it showed me that the Lord really is involved in the work and is involved in the little details of our lives.

Also transfers are next week! Let's see what happens!

Anyways, that's all this week. I love yall and miss ya!

Tschüsssss!
