De Doop, Mississippi, And Coincidence?

Hallo alle!

This past Saturday Rosa was baptized! Her family, who are all members, came over from the Netherlands and her dad baptized her (the rest of her family is members) Also fun fact, baptism in Dutch is Doop! It was really awesome, and it was cool to see her take that next step. She said for her that it wasn't some crazy spiritual experience, but after she was baptized, she felt at peace and just happy which was cool to hear. I also had to give another talk, so that was an adventure. I think people were a bit bored though because half of it was just scriptures. Whoops!

On Monday, our appointments were canceled, so we went around visiting members we have never seen or met and street contacting. Even after 6 hours of that and talking to lots of people, only 3 people stopped to talk, but at least we had a good conversation with one person, and we were able to set up a visit and set up a time to meet with two different members who haven't come to church in years! So that was really cool.

On Tuesday we met with a friend of ours, Bonnie, who we teach German and is from Mississippi! She is so awesome, really funny, and actually has been familiar with our church since she was young since she had a lot of friends who were members. She doesn't necessarily have interest in joining the church though, so although we aren't teaching her the Gospel, it is also so awesome just to be able to help her, just like Jesus would! (I'm sure Jesus gave some Roman soldiers Hebrew or Aramaic lessons. I wouldn't be surprised). Serving people is actually a lot of fun and brings a lot of peace (to you and those you serve), I didn't realize that truly until my mission.

Yesterday we had a cool experience. We had some time before we had to meet with Rosa, so we decided to go by a couple addresses and see if members still lived there. The first one ended up being a dud, so we decided to go to another one, and just told Rosa to meet us up there instead of the place we were originally gonna meet. On our way there, I was having a hard time getting the energy to stop and talk to people, but I had a feeling I really should. It got to a point where I told myself that I would talk to the next person I see. I saw a man walking toward us, so I stopped and started talking to him. He said he was American, and what do you know? He used to be a member. He also served a mission, and served in Aachen, Duisburg, and Saarbrücken, all places where I served. We had a really good conversation and he told us all about his mission. Although he is totally not interested, it was cool to see that it was definitely God who helped us cross paths.

We also went to the Lindt chocolate factory here and I bought some cool chocolate!

Anyways, I'm loving it out here, talk to you guys next week!

Landon
