Enlightenment, Ostern, And Treasure
Hallo alle!
First an announcement! For those who don't already know the Washington DC temple is reopening and they are having an open house. Please invite all your friends and family! I wish I could be there for it, but it is really such a cool opportunity, especially if you aren't a member of the church!
Anyways, this week we had some really awesome lessons. We met with our friend Treasure on Thursday at a members house, and it went really well! We talked about faith and how one can turn hope into faith. His famous line was "wow this is enlightening".
We met with a member and her son, and while Elder Unsworth was helping her with something on her phone, I played soccer and ping pong with her son. I totally was dominating in ping pong, but I let him win. I didn't want to crush an 11 yr old's dreams. The funniest part was, his mom told him to put on a jacket cause it was cold outside and he came out wearing one of those sleeveless vest jackets with a sinister little smile on his face.
It was Easter this week! Originally we weren't going anywhere for Easter or doing anything, but our branch president and his wife invited us over for dinner the day of, which was awesome! He is German and she is Dutch, but they speak English to each other, because neither one can speak each other's native languages too well, which I found interesting. They married each other and live with each other speaking a foreign language, but I guess it doesn't matter, because they both have incredible english.
During Easter I thought alot about the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and what it means for me and my family. It means that I can see my whole family again after this life. It means that I can live with those I love forever!
We also met with our friend and his wife (who is a member) in Belgium and it also went really well. At the beginning we asked if he had read in the Book of Mormon and she just started going off on her essentially needing to force him to read in the Book of Mormon and stuff. So instead of teaching anything we had planned on (things never go as planned on a mission, lemme tell you that), we decided to read 2nd Nephi 2 together. I felt the spirit so strong, and we were both able to really bare testimony of Jesus Christ and the importance of His Atonement. His Gospel is the only way we can be our happiest, and eventually return to live in the presence of God again. At the end, Patrick, who we were teaching, without us really asking, told us that he would try his best to read everyday in the Book of Mormon.
Last night we met with a member (Bruder Zhang) who we meet at this chinese restaurant once a week for our dinner. He is really so awesome, and funny, and since it's such a small restaurant, we are basically best friends with everyone there. It has made me think more about how many cool people I have been able to meet since I came on a mission. Something that would not have happened otherwise.
Lastly, today we went to the Aachener Domschatzkammer (the Cathedral vault), and we got to see a ton of cool old stuff from Charlemagne and the middle ages so that was cool!
Anyways love yall, and next week is transfers, and Elder Unsworth is going home, so we will see what happens!
