Disco, Rain Or Shine, And Gulasch
Grüß euch!
This week I actually have interesting pictures! Wow, a miracle!
This week there was a huge young adult activity in Darmstadt for members from Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. We helped out a bit with the set up, and they really go all out over here. It was a multi day event (Thursday till Sunday), with about 280 people. On Sunday they were also all at church, and it was crazy to have around 450 people at church! We got to see some past missionaries and friends from other areas which was also a lot of fun. I especially enjoyed the back to the future poster and disco ball still hanging up in the cultural hall during sacrament meeting.
Since we have been getting ready for our hike Zone Conference that was on Tuesday, we were all worried about rain. Up until Monday night it was raining and there was still a 95% chance of rain all day on Tuesday and during our hike. We all probably prayed pretty hard Monday night because During our entire hike and 2 hour devotional at the top, there was not one drop of rain, just sunshine. As soon as it was over, it started to rain again. It was truly a miracle. The conference was one of my most spiritual experiences on my mission. We talked about how we all sorta have orbits, and some of ours are supposed to cross with others. There is a reason I am in the Germany Frankfurt mission serving in Darmstadt. There are people who will touch my life and there are also people whose lives I am meant to touch. We also had a really powerful testimony, where we all shared "Spiritually Defining Memories" in our lives. It was awesome.
This week I also got two go on two exchanges. One with Elder Carruthers and one with Elder Gillis. It was a nice reunion with Elder Gillis since we were in the same MTC class together. Elder Carruthers is also tryna learn Spanish, so we made a pact to work together and become native-like speakers by the end of our missions. We will see how it goes! Although I can't say much still, it is crazy to see how many more Spanish people I have been meeting on the street recently now that I am learning Spanish.
The other day we got off the bus and I just felt pushed immediately to talk to this one guy across the main square. So I talked to him, and he turned out to be pretty interested. The Lord will guide us to people who need us, we just have to open our ears and heart, which is really hard, but definitely doable! I'm still working on it.
While on the exchange with Elder Gillis, we visited a member and her husband for lunch. We had some FIRE goulash and potatoes. The husband is not a member, but we ended up talking about how we can find peace in the Gospel, us two and the wife all shared very powerful experiences and the Spirit was really there. You could tell that everyone in the room noticed it. The Gospel is a Gospel of peace. Jesus Christ preached peace. It can bring peace to family conflict, world conflict, personal conflict, or any conflict in your life! It's pretty incredible!
Anyways that's all for this week! Miss y'all and love yall!
Tschüss!
Landon
