Got It In The Bag, Russki, And The Scientific Method

Hallo Leute!

It was another awesome week, like usual. I've got plenty of ups and downs, but I promise you an attitude of gratitude will change your life (I sound like my mom during Thanksgiving).

We saw a lot of miracles this week. We went on a split with the elders in Hamm. We went street contacting and we passed a guy who I felt like I should talk to, so I did, and he was really interested in the Book of Mormon. I also had the feeling that morning to put an English Book of Mormon in my bag, and the guy (Jerome) didn't speak any German, just English. I also was able to give him the restoration pamphlet which he was also excited about. That evening I got a call from the other Dortmund Elders who asked "Did you talk to a guy named Jerome earlier?" And I said "Yeah..." and apparently the other Elders saw Jerome had a Book of Mormon in hand and talked to him in a subway train right after I had talked to him on the street. They talked to him a lot more about the restoration of Christ's church and he said he really felt the Spirit and wanted to learn all about it. The Lord puts people in our paths who need and are ready for the Gospel of Jesus Christ! It really changes lives.

We also met a really cool young guy named Dennis who was way down to talk more about the Gospel. He talks at the speed of light, so I really had to channel my German ancestry to understand him!

I talked to a guy in a subway train who didn't understand what I was saying and just said "Russki, russki" so I assumed he only spoke Russian, so I pulled out one of our cards with the website that is also in Russian and he say the card (it has the picture of Jesus Christ on it) and he said "Christo!" And immediately gave me his number and got off the train. It was crazy (in a very good but confusing way)!!. The Lord works miracles. There are no coincidences!

We also had Zone Conference this week! We stayed the night before in Duisburg, so I got to revisit my old apartment and pick up a couple things I left there which was nice! We had Zone Conference with Elder Kopischke from europe central area presidency. When we walked into the conference he saw that both Elder Allen and I had the same name and I told him we were companions and he said "Well it doesn't get much better than that does it!". Everybody just thinks it's the funniest thing haha.

I learned so much at the conference, especially about "experiments". If you don't know if God exists, try out reading the scriptures and praying, what harm can it do? If you are not sure if there is a life after death, read in the Book of Mormon, and pray about it, what harm can it do? Just try it out! There is no harm in "experimenting".

I also learned a lot about "walking with the Savior". If you want to get through the hard times, you need to get as close to Jesus Christ as possible, and he will help you walk through them. His Gospel and His church blesses lives and I have seen people on my mission change from confused, depressed, and distraught, to becoming happier than they ever have been before as they realized the importance of family and lived Jesus's Christ's Gospel.

Anyways that's all for this week! I'm loving it out here, send me an email and let me know what you are loving about your life right now!

Love yall miss yall!

Tschüss!

Lando (Elder Allan)

***That one pic with the dogs - some guy got in an already packed Straßenbahn (subway) with three dogs, including a great dane and a border collie that sat on top of my feet. Not complaining though my toes were cold, and the dogs were nice.

***Notice the beautiful recreation of the famous Joseph and Potiphar's wife picture
