The Stars And Stripes, Christmas Spirit, And Santa Claus
Hallo Leute!
This week was really successful. We had our ward Christmas party, and had been going around knocking doors in the neighborhood and trying to invite people to it. Unfortunately no one came, but I saw the Lord bless our effort when our friend Dennis (who is normally always busy) and a random person we texted on Whatsapp (Ursula) showed up to the Christmas party. We will now start meeting with Ursula, and Dennis said he cannot remember the last time he had seen such a nice, warm Christmas celebration, and that it really felt like family there. At the Christmas Party the "Weihnachtsmann'' came and gave all the kids gifts, after which he called us (the missionaries) up to the stage and said if we want gift we have to do something to earn it... so we gathered around the piano and sung obviously the Star Spangled Banner. The ward thought it was pretty funny... luckily.
We also found another new friend who used to have a baptismal date earlier this year, but out of nowhere just started showing back up at church and comes almost every week and he wants to meet more.
We also had one of the best distriktrats of my mission. We made a plan as a district how we are going to help the Ward and reactivate members. We made a plan with the Hahns as well to do an activity making cookies with the ward, and then work with them to go out and deliver them to less and in-actives. On Saturday we are going to be singing at the Weihnachtsmarkt as a district which will also be a lot of fun.
There was a member that we were helping set up for the ward Christmas party. He looked a lot like Santa and I had never seen him in the ward for him. I think he may have truly been Santa. Between that and the christmas markets I feel like I am living in one of my Dad's favorite Hallmark movies.
Also it snowed here! Germany has decided to rely completely on transportation that depends on sunny skies to be on time. The moment a snowflake falls from the sky, the world falls apart over here. Trains are canceled, the big accordion busses are sliding around, and peoples little european smart cars and fiats have snow plows attached to them. The snow was pretty though!
Anyways that's all for this week! Love yall and talk to you next week!
