Under Attack, #Blessed, And GOALS

Hey y'all!

The weeks are going by faster and faster I swear!

Happppppyyyyy new year!!!!!! Germans have been lighting off fireworks for the past week and a half. On New Years Eve we got together with some of the members in our ward and had Raclette together. It was really nice! That night I woke up at 12 am to booms and flashes of light, and I honestly thought we were under attack. Turns out Germans just love their New Years fireworks. I looked out the window and you could see fireworks going off from everywhere in the city! It was pretty cool.

This week we had some exchanges in Frankfurt, and it was a lot of fun! I was with Elder Urban (my companion 2 transfers ago) so that was pretty cool to serve together again even though it was only for a day. On Friday night we decided to do some door knocking. So we looked at a map, said a prayer, and felt prompted to go to a certain area of the city. So we went there and went to this one apartment building, no one was interested, until we knocked on one door. A man answered and said he wasn't very interested since he was Orthodox. His wife came running to the door saying "Come in come in!" So the husband let us in, and after a long talk about the Book of Mormon and Jesus Christ, they both said they would love to visit church sometime and learn more about what we believe. That was a miracle! As we are leaving she also blessed us with orthodox frankincense oil on our wrists. I felt honored but my wrists still smell like my mom's essential oils now even after a week! I have really started to notice and listen to the Spirit lately, and it has led to some cool experiences. It is real!

We also had another exchange this week with the Herne Elders. They are in a drit (three of them) so I was with both Elder Burton and Thompson in Herne. We met with one of their friends Uwe. He is sorta like a pirate with his parrot named Nico always on his shoulder. We talked about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Turns out even parrots can feel the Spirit, because as soon as we started bearing testimony, Nico quieted down.

We visited a member in our ward, Birgit, who recently had an accident and broke her knee. We got to go over, us and the other missionaries made lunch, and we all ate together. Afterwards we watched the Christ Child video, which was really powerful. If you have never seen it, I would highly recommend it even though Christmas is over. It's awesome.

Anyways I am excited for this year! I have made a vision for who I want to be at the end of my mission in 4 months, and I made some specific goals to get there. If any of you want to keep me accountable or are interested in seeing if I accomplish it, let me know and I will send them your way!

Anyways, love y'all and frohes neues Jahr!

Tschüss!

Elder Allan
