Count Your Blessings
Hallo liebe Leute!
This week was busy, but lots of fun!
And it was Easter!
I had possibly the most spiritual sacrament meeting of my life. A member of the ward sang "This is the Christ", and as she sang the whole room was filled with the Spirit, and I was just shaking. It was so powerful! I am so grateful for music and how it can invite the Spirit.
This week I somehow got to a talk from President Eyring called "O Remember, Remember". He talked about how important it is to remember what the Lord has done for you every day. I then plugged in my headphones to listen to a talk, and my phone automatically turned on the song Count Your Many Blessings. Seems like God was really trying to tell me something! So I studied the hymn and some scriptures about gratitude. That evening we had a lesson with our friend Sebastia who is getting baptized. At the end we asked him how he sees God in his life, and he said that he knows that God is there but he doesn't feel like he sees him at all in his life. That made me immediately think of everything I had studied earlier. We sang "Count Your Many Blessings'' together and we shared part of that President Eyring talk with him. The Spirit was really strong, and we challenged him to write down one way every day that the Lord helped him that day. We texted him yesterday and it turns out he bought a notebook just for that! He is so awesome!
Our friend Markus is also working on quitting smoking, and he is doing so well. Just a month and a half ago he was at 1 pack a day, and now he is at 2 cigarettes a day! He said that he prays for help everyday and that he knows the Lord is giving him strength. He is still planning on getting baptized on the 29th!
I learned a lot of lessons this week from the song "Count Your Blessings".
"When upon life’s billows you are tempest-tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings; name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.
Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings; ev’ry doubt will fly,
And you will be singing as the days go by.
When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you his wealth untold.
Count your many blessings; money cannot buy
Your reward in heaven nor your home on high.
So amid the conflict, whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged; God is over all.
Count your many blessings; angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end."
My past companion Elder Christensen always laughed and said I was such a mom when I said this, but always tried to have an attitude of gratitude! Gratitude truly turns from night to day. Always try to remember what God has done for you, and I can promise you that you will be so much happier in life. You will feel God's love and feel love for others. You will enjoy every day so much more!
Anyways I love you all and miss you!
Bis nächste Woche!
Elder Allan
