Our Savior's Love
Hallo Leute!
A crazy week!
This morning I took Elder Urban to the airport and sent him home! It was the weirdest feeling, considering I have spent a total of 4.5 months living with him on my mission (between our time together in Darmstadt, and this past transfer in Frankfurt). We had grown so close and I am going to miss him a lot!
My new companion is Elder Carruthers, who I already knew from my time in Darmstadt, and we are getting along great. He is from some odd country where they speak a weird dialect of English. He says "rubbish" instead of trash, and "hoover" instead of vacuum, and the most confusing one is "crisps" instead of chips. Oh yeah, and a couple hundred years ago we beat his country in a war, no big deal.
This week was also general conference! Because of the big time difference, I still haven't gotten a chance to watch the Saturday Evening or the Sunday Afternoon sessions, so no spoilers! It was a spiritual conference and I loved it. Plus there was a new temple announced in Virginia and in Germany! That made me so happy to hear. The people of Virginia need it and especially those in Germany! One of my favorite parts of conference was President Nelson's talk.
"Brothers and sisters, the pure love of Christ is the answer to the contention that ails us today. Charity propels us “to bear one another’s burdens” rather than heap burdens upon each other. The pure love of Christ allows us “to stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things”—especially in tense situations. Charity allows us to demonstrate how men and women of Christ speak and act—especially when under fire."
One of the biggest things I have learned on my mission is how powerful charity and love truly is. You would be surprised at how many problems love solves. Contention and strife is almost never worth the consequences. No matter how much you feel you SHOULD be angry or are ALLOWED to be angry, love and humility are the better option. If you want to show that you truly believe in Jesus Christ and that you follow him, show others this "pure love", that Christ so perfectly demonstrated as he was on the Earth. Look to Christ as your example, and make him your everyday focus. Even if you aren't a missionary and you are living a "normal" life, you can still make HIM your focus. Find a new way to focus on Him everyday and I can promise you that you will be so much happier. You will find it more difficult to be sad. A song that describes this feeling perfectly is "Our Savior's Love"
Our Savior’s love
Shines like the sun with perfect light,
As from above
It breaks thru clouds of strife.
Lighting our way,
It leads us back into his sight,
Where we may stay
To share eternal life.
I love you all. And Christ loves you all.
Bis nächste Woche!
Elder Allan
