Hallo alle!

I told myself I would never send a dead email, but here I am. As far as an update on me goes, I am working for the 1st counselor in my YSA Bishopric laying tile in homes, I got to go to the brand new Richmond Virginia Temple (first in Virginia!), I got called as ward mission leader within 2 weeks of getting home (how the tables have turned), and I am trying my best to survive the real world!

But on to the important stuff!

I don‘t have much to say (that's a lie) besides I am so grateful for the opportunity I got to serve with all of you, no matter how short or how long that may have been. Even when you may not think it yourself, you are truly an incredible missionary. The Lord is a lot more proud of you than you are of yourself. I can honestly say that I learned something from every, single, last one of you, even if we never really talked!

If there is anything that I learned from my mission that truly changed who I am today, it is that the Gospel is about becoming something, or rather becoming someone. Life isn’t about who you want to be, it's about what God wants you to be, and our mission in life is to figure out who that person is that God wants us to become. The mission is an incredible, if not the most incredible, opportunity to figure out what person the Lord wants you to be. I invite you all to figure out who the LORD wants you to be, and not what you want you to be. Pray about it, study for it, and change for it. As you strive to discover whom the Lord wants you to be, you will begin to align your will with His. You will see yourself become more perfect, or in other words, more complete. In order to become someone, you have to be actively trying to be someone. I learned that there is no room for casualness in becoming like Jesus Christ.

There is an incredible talk by Elder Scott D. Whiting, called „Becoming Like Him“, read it!

Push yourself to your limit and outside of your comfort zone as a missionary, and you will grow in ways you never thought possible. Come unto Christ a bit more every day and use his Atonement! It applies not only to the people you are teaching but also especially to you.

If I had any advice it would be: enjoy your mission, make it worth it, but most importantly, change. The Lord never requires us to change our identities or our personalities because that is what makes each one of us individual, and God wants us to be us. He does, however, ask us to "deny ourselves of all ungodliness", "put off the natural man", and "love God with all our might, mind, and strength". The Gospel is a gospel of change, and like it says in PMG chapter 6, just as important as what you do, is who you are and what you are becoming. Become something God wants you to become (Moroni 10:32-33).

Don‘t give up, no matter what you struggle with or how hard it is, because, on the other side, you will see how worth it was. I know you all struggle with something really individual. I did too and I still do! Whether it's talking to people, connecting with people, German, teaching with the Spirit, prayer, patience, or whatever it may be, just give it your best and God truly does make up the rest. Remember the blessings that will come.

1 Corinthians 2:9
"Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him."'

Never forget that! You have great blessings in store for you as you prioritize God and His work over the comparably insignificant worries of the world. I know that!

Go out there and love the crap out of the German people!
I love you all and miss you!
